stopped at fulbourn tesco

this man an old man pushed his zimmer
towards the bus
slowly
very slowly
so slowly that the driver had time to
eat
a banana and
lower the bus using
that weird hydraulic system
well the old man wheeled himself
on and took his ticket
dropped it in his
bag that also contained the daily mail
                                               a pouch of golden virginia
                                               tissues
                                               disposable razors
                                               sheer ten denier tights

one day I take you to the sea

two pence coins perch
like seagulls

dive into copper-green
ocean

a child
in this moment

richer
than we will ever be

*

we pinch clean
a dressed crab

slide our last pennies
in its shell

toss a wish
to the tides
