I’m working on a few things at the moment. My work at Salt has kept me busy. Selling books is a frustrating business. But books need to be sold for other books to be made. If people don’t buy books, then publishers can’t make books, and that leaves someone who is a writer feeling a little worried.

But my own personal work seems to be trying to get around that problem. I’m working on a collection of poems that are not meant to be read in books. They’re going to be displayed on walls:

I’ve been busy taking photographs. They’re photos of Melbourne and Cambridge. My poems are about Melbourne and Cambridge too. I think they work pretty well together.

I like reading books. But these poems aren’t meant to be read in solitude. They’re to be shared, looked at up close, talked about. People together reading poems and looking at photographs.

I’ll be having an event in February where my finished collection will be displayed for people to do just that.

It’ll be fun.
